Delhi Republic Day Parade is India’s largest and most significant parade. Every year, the parade is held at Kartavya Path in New Delhi on 26th January. The parade is India’s main event during the three-day Republic Day celebrations. It was first held in 1950 and has continued to be held annually since. This cultural pageant represents a united but diverse India.

The Parade marches on from Rashtrapati Bhanavan along the Kartavya Path, to India Gate. From there it continues to the Red Fort. The President of India unfurls the Indian national flag to begin the parade. The parade is then followed by a marching display from the Army, Navy and Air Force along with their respective bands and tableaux representing various state cultures. The parade ends with a beating retreat.

Republic Day 2025 Pre-Parade Ceremonies

A solemn tribute is paid by the prime minister at the National War Memorial. This was previously done at Amar Jawan Jyoti. The day begins with a solemn tribute by the Prime Minister at the National War Memorial, which was previously held at Amar Jawan Jyoti. The act of tribute sets the tone for celebrations. After that, the Prime Minister joins other dignitaries on the dais in Kartavya Path. The President of India, usually accompanied by a dignitary from abroad, arrives shortly after. The President of India is ceremonially led on horseback, by a cavalry regiment called the President’s Bodyguard.

The national anthem Jana Gana Mana is played as the President unfolds the Indian flag. The Indian Army Regiment of Artillery adds grandeur to this moment with a 21-gun salute. The PBG dips its flag in respect as it renders the National Salute. The parade can now officially begin.

Republic Day 2025 Award and Honors

The President’s presentation of awards is a key part of the event. The Ashok Chakra, Param Vir Chakra and other prestigious honors are awarded to individuals who have displayed exceptional courage and bravery. These awards acknowledge contributions in disaster, military or civilian scenarios. These awards are meant to inspire, highlighting the commitment and courage of both military personnel and civilians.

Republic Day 2025: The parade begins

As the Indian Army and Navy lead the march, the bands of their respective forces play synchronized music. The pride and discipline that the military demonstrates is reflected in each contingent dressed up in their ceremonial finery. Leading the parade is the parade commander followed by his assistant. The living recipients of honors for gallantry join the parade, which serves as a reminder to the nation of its debt towards the heroes.

The armed forces will be followed by federal security groups such as the Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force and Delhi Police. Their disciplined march, which represents all territorial, municipal, state and city police forces in the country, underscores their collective efforts to maintain order throughout the nation.

Republic Day 2025 Diverse Displays

Around 55 units march in the parade, including 18-24 regiments of the Indian Army and contingents from Navy and Air Force. 12 additional contingents, including paramilitary forces and civil authorities are also present. The camel mounted contingent is a unique sight, as it’s the only camel mounted military force in the entire world. The camel-mounted contingent of the BSF is a unique and cherished sight. It’s the only military force in the world to be mounted on camels.

Also participating is the National Cadet Corps, which includes the top cadets in the nation. The parade is a highly regarded honor and the drills and performance are months in preparation. The event is energized by the youthful dances of schoolchildren in the capital. About 1,200 schoolchildren participate in the event, which showcases India’s rich culture through dance, music and colorful costumes.

In addition, the parade features between 22 and 30 tableaux or floats that represent various state, union territory, ministry, and public enterprise. The moving displays depict cultural heritage, historical accomplishments, and development milestones. The floats are accompanied by folk and traditional songs. They offer an insight into India’s diversity. Republic Day 2025 Prepare and practice

It is a massive undertaking to prepare for the Republic Day Parade. An annual full-dress practice is held on the 23rd of January, three days prior to the event. No detail is missed, from drills to props. The uniforms, the floats and the performances are given special attention to ensure that the parade is of the highest standard.

Months of preparation are required by both schoolchildren and NCC Cadets to perfect their performances. The seamless performance of each drill, dance and cultural show shows their dedication. Participants from different backgrounds have united to make the parade successful.

Republic Day 2025 Latest Innovations and Milestones

The Republic Day Parade has changed over the years to reflect current values and priorities. In 2016, the K-9 Dog Squad returned to the parade after a long absence of 26 years, attracting significant attention. The 2024 parade marked a significant step towards gender equality and the empowerment of women by featuring motorcycle acrobats teams and contingents composed primarily of women. The boldness of this move demonstrated India’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity.

Republic Day 2025 Nationwide Celebration

It is a national event. The Republic Day Parade does not just take place in New Delhi. It is broadcast live to millions of Indians on radio and television, bringing them together in celebration of their common heritage.
